The sixth episode of the Cultural Diversity — The Wealth of Society project by Asarkya Studio focuses on the German community in Abkhazia. The film tells the stories of chemistry teacher Nelly Lais, ecology researcher Heinrich Kennigsberger, and Valentina Neufeld from Pitsunda. It also reflects on the history of German settlements in the region, which began in the 19th century, and highlights the Lutheran Church of St. John in Sukhum — an important symbol of the community’s cultural heritage. Today, around seventy German families live in Abkhazia.
