Reflection on displacement, loss, and anxiety about the unknown in the form of an exhibition. Curator Naida Abidova invites artists to explore the gradual disappearance of traditional ways of life: nature is being depleted, languages are being forgotten, homes are being replaced by faceless buildings, and cultural rituals are preserved only in the memories of the older generation. Disappearance can be rapid and aggressive, or it can be slow and almost imperceptible, until one day it becomes clear that the old is no more. In this context, the project highlights how deeply rooted the theme of invasion and loss is in the collective memory of Abkhazia.

The exhibition consists of three separate spaces. Oleg Chediya’s total installation leads to the sound space of sound artist Hannah D’Argavel-Liaf (UK) and concludes with a painted tent and sculptures by Alina Matveeva hidden from view.
