The ‘Post-Soviet Period: A Reset’ block was led by Svyatoslav Murunov, founder of the Centre for Applied Urbanism, anthropologist and urbanist specialising in post-Soviet territories. In his approach, Murunov emphasises economic development through the strengthening of local communities - the primary drivers of urban initiatives. The programme began with a workshop for participants selected through an open call, followed by a public lecture delivered by Svyatoslav Murunov, which concluded with a panel discussion. Thanks to close collaboration with an initiative group and local communities, the block became an attempt to develop a proactive approach to decision-making and the growth of grassroots initiatives in Sukhum.
