The exhibition’s title cites Kornei Chukovsky’s poem The Confusion, in which animals mistakenly exchange their roles and, in the resulting chaos, set the sea ablaze. On one level, it celebrates imagination, color, and ornament in the works of the three artists. On another, it emphasizes the structured disarray of the display itself: the artists’ series are interwoven throughout the space, leaving authorship to be discerned either by tracing the complex diagrams in the printed materials or by recognizing each artist’s visual language.
Within this environment, larger and more “serious” works coexist with looser, more fluid pieces — sketch-like fragments torn from a notebook — creating a layered dialogue between the monumental and the ephemeral.
Alina Matveeva and Diana Narmania both graduated from the Sukhum Art College named after A. Chachba-Shervashidze. Together with Danakai Adleiba, they are now continuing their studies at HSE University in Moscow, specializing in design, contemporary art, and illustration.
