Namus (dir. Amo Beknazaryan, 1926) is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Alexander Shirvanzade. The word “namus” translates as “honor.”
Set in 19th-century Shamakhi, the film tells the story of two young lovers whose devotion to one another collides with the rigid norms of traditional society, unleashing a chain of tragic events.
