As part of her lecture, Marianne Burki, then Head of Visual Arts at Pro Helvetia, discussed the social role of art, viewing it as a tool capable of uniting cultures and transcending political borders. Using the foundation’s activities as an example, she illustrated how art fosters dialogue between communities.
Special attention was given to how contemporary technologies make artistic media accessible to a wide audience. Regardless of background or experience, anyone can now create and share their own content, thereby initiating public discussions and influencing cultural processes.
