One of the key works in the ‘Ultima Tule. Alada’ exhibition was by Eva Sangulia. It featured posters from a recent protest that spontaneously emerged around the ҲараҲПицунда movement.
ҲараҲПицунда (Abkhaz for ‘Our Pitsunda’) is a community movement motivated by the preservation of Abkhazia’s independence. They insist on the necessity of considering citizens’ opinions in key decision-making and emphasise the role of youth in the political process.
At the meeting, representatives of the movement discussed civic activism in Abkhazia: the ability to express one’s own opinion and the right of all citizens to freedom of speech. A special topic of discussion was the formation of independent, horizontal communities in the country.
The meeting was led and moderated by journalist Eleonora Giloyan.
