Premiere of the documentary film “The Edge of the Night” (2024, dir. Andrei Natotsinsky) and meeting with its author, Alexander Sokurov's workshop graduate and director Andrei Natotsinsky. The evening is moderated by poet and co-author of the film's concept Nina Eshsau.
The film originated in 2020, when Andrei Natotinsky first arrived in Sukhum and found himself in literal and metaphorical darkness: the city was plunged into nighttime silence, broken only by the hum of generators. Rolling blackouts caused by the activities of crypto miners became the starting point for the director's return with a film crew. However, Edge of Night is not a film about mining. It is a meditative exploration of a space that continues to live in the shadow of war, economic collapse, and prolonged timelessness. Putting together the scattered voices—of residents, landscapes, shadows of the past—the film refuses to draw direct conclusions, allowing silence to speak for itself.
