The reading group is dedicated to the book by English writer Olivia Lang. To the River is Lang’s debut book, in which she recounts her journey along the River Ouse in Sussex, exploring the relationship between history and landscape, and reflecting on the role of rivers in human life.
The choice of this book is intentional. Its themes and symbols related to rivers served as one of the sources of inspiration for Alina Arakelian, a participant in the exhibition River, Road, Building and the City.
During the reading group, we will focus on the first chapter of the book — participants will receive the text in advance to familiarize themselves with it. Then we will meet at SKLAD_ to delve into the chapter and discuss the significance of rivers and river-related stories — both large and small, collective and personal.
