Said Kakalia is an artist who works in painting and printmaking. He will discuss the history of printmaking around the world and in Abkhazia, and explain its main techniques: relief, intaglio, and planographic printing. We will discuss woodcut, linocut, etching, and other methods of creating printing plates, as well as local and international artists who work with these techniques.

During the event, you’ll be able to view a small exhibition of prints and the materials themselves — from tools to printing plates. In the second part, Said will demonstrate how a linocut is created and make a print on-site.
