Silas Heizmann’s film explores Abkhazia’s physical spaces, in limbo between past and future. Through landscapes and cityscapes, as well as personal memories, he constructs an image of a region where the boundaries between different eras are blurred.
A key device of the film is the imitation of a techno club. Heizmann blends responses from the local community about rave culture with quotes from documentaries about Berghain. He reimagines Sukhumpribor as a club space, placing a neon sign on its rooftop and interspersing it with shots of strobe lights in natural settings. Through rave aesthetics, he reinterprets local history, transforming film into a liminal realm between reality and myth.The film was produced in collaboration with the cultural platform SKLAD_.
